Abkürzung für englisch Stockholm International Peace Research Institute ['stɔkhəʊm ɪntə'næʃnl piːs rɪ'səːtʃ'ɪnstɪtjuːt, »Stockholmer Internationales Friedensforschungsinstitut«], eine wissenschaftliche Einrichtung zur Friedensforschung; am 1. 7. 1966 von der schwedischen Regierung gegründet; untersucht weltweit die Rüstungsentwicklung und militärischen Konflikte, macht Vorschläge zur Abrüstung und Rüstungsbegrenzung sowie zum internationalen Krisenmanagement. SIPRI wird hauptsächlich vom schwedischen Staat finanziert, von einem internationalen Leitungsgremium geführt und ist in seiner Arbeit unabhängig. Es veröffentlicht u. a. Jahrbücher, die die internationale Rüstungsentwicklung laufend dokumentieren.
